I have a blad patch on the back of my head. It never bothered me until my hairdresser pointed it out one day. It tingles from time to time and has a little red in the bald area but no scaling. I have an app. at the dermatologist next week but i want to know what to expect.

Just a quick summary of myself. I’m 20 years old, 6′ 1" 170 pounds. I’m very fit for my age and height, and I exercise daily and always eat a healthy diet. My family has never had a history of MPB, and none of my siblings or cousins my age show any signs of balding.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in January 2008. I was sick before that for about 6 months, before realizing that I was literally withering away, and it wasn’t going to get better on it’s own. After I was diagnosed, I was given a 60mg a day dose of Prednisone and a 2400mg a day dose of Asacol. The Asacol stayed the same for the next 9 months, and the Prednisone tapered off gradually to 5mg a day by 9 months. In December 2008, I completely stopped taking both my Prednisone and Asacol, and was relieved to hear that my Crohn’s was in remission. During the 9 month period, I suffered the usual symptoms of Prednisone (Moon face, weight gain, fatigue, joint pain, etc.) I was also losing hair a little at a time.

About a month after stopping the regiment, around January 2009, I started losing my hair in the front. For the first few months, it was coming out rather quickly and in large amounts. It was also thinning very badly. It started getting progressively better over the next 6 months, but it didn’t stop completely. By December 2009, I have lost a decent amount of hair on the front of my scalp, and it’s a little discouraging for my self image. Whenever I lose hair, it’s usually shorter follicles, an inch in length, compared to my 2-3 inch hair everywhere else. Also, the follicles have a white head on the end sometimes, which I am told is the root. Uh oh? I have read a ton of testimonials online about people with the same exact problem as me, except that they had their hair growing back within 3-5 months of being off of Prednisone. I’ve been off for over a year, and am starting to barely notice positive results, if there are even any positive results. I’m usually too optimistic about things!

After deciding that I wanted my hair back, and I need to combat this every way possible, I started to do the following;
-Taking biotin supplement pills
-Eating extremely healthy and drinking plenty of water
-Washing my hair once a week with some natural shampoo I found at a health store
-Messaging oils in to my scalp once a week, and messaging my scalp a few times a day

I guess my question is;

Will my hair ever grow back, to be the same thick, healthy hair it was before the Prednisone? Or is there something that I’m missing?

I just found out I have it . OMG it has happened so fast. In just a few weeks it’s went from one spot to over a dozen. My family tells me,"Well at least your not going to die from this." which I know but is really no comfort to me. I am hoping I can find somebody else that has a better insight on what I’m going through.

My hubby has hair everywhere except his head. LOL. I have him waxed once a week whether he needs it or not but now I am concerned about the lack of hair on top.

What can I do to help him fix his baldness issues?

like in a restaurant, the cook or the waiter’s hair falls into the food and u dont notice and you eat it. does it make u a cannibal?

I just bought the Holywood Beauty Tea Tree oil, but it doesn’t have any directions on how to use it, it just says "gently massage small amount on dry areas", so I dont know whether to leave it on at night, or just for a few minutes, or whether to use it before or after washng my hair. I’ve heard you can put a few drops in your shampoo too, will this work? I use Herbal Essenses Hydralicious shampoo.. THANKSSS

I have read that there is no cure for alopecia, but there are many cases where hair growth may come back. Are there specialists in alopecia that anyone could recommend who can give better treatment options? It would be for a ten year old who is not responding to rogaine or cortisone shots.

I’m 17 and I been eating lot of meats and I have a little bald spot and its embarrassing. Is there any food out there that is good for hair.

Would you date a guy that had alopecia? For those that don’t know it’s hair loss, if it’s in a guy it just looks like he shaves his head and he doesn’t have much body hair though it does cause ones skin to look kinda pale. I have dated a guy with this before that was a very well liked guy and treated me well. I’m just curious if anyone else has dated a guy with this and would you date one if he had a good personality?

I have been researching about hair growth and Male Pattern Baldness. So far I have been drinking Saw Palmetto but I am wondering if i should add in pygeum africanum. If I should what store sells it?

Believe me, the cooks hands are dirtier than the hair. Does a tiny eggshell on someones breakfast plate require the restaurant to buy that persons breakfast?

OMG!!. Seriously, I had a hair in my cereal this morning. No joke. It is so disgusting. I’m not into suing people but can’t you do something about that? Anyone with real advise would be great. Happy New Year to All.

My partner and I are expecting our first child shortly and she suffers from alopecia. It was under control with the use of the contraceptive pill and minoxydil, but I was wondering whether it will be passed on to our child. My side of the family has no history of any baldness as far as I can remember

I have brown hair, and I want to darken it without dying it. Is there some type of food that helps out your hair, or some shampoo that acaully helps with darkening?
