i am 14 years old so im not suffering from any type of hair loss disease or oldness. i just recently took weave out my hair hoping my hair would grow. unfortunately the braids were too tight and pulled out some of my hair. i was devastated. i use to have very long hair that reached my bra strap. now my hair only reaches my ears ive been trying my hardest to bring my hair back. i don’t know what to do or where to start. is there any products? do i have too cut off all my hair to match? is it safe to wear tracks—>(extensions hair thing) in my hair while the bald spot and other thinning area’s recover.
A friend has been ill for 4 years. No doctor can find a diagnosis. He has severe hip pain, muscle weakness, is in bed most of the time, walks with a cane and can not even sit up long enough to have a meal with his family. He has started loosing his hair and now his teeth are also loosing their enamel and breaking off. He is very sensitive to heat and light, his face is red and swelled up. Also has very high triglycerides(1400), and high blood pressure. He has mostly given up after around 20 doctors with abnormal test results but nothing exact. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, a hair loss disease, when I was just in early third grade. It would be great to know someone else who goes through the same things as me. It’s hard being bald and going around in school and public.
I was taking Imuran but i stopped it…i am still taking Pentasa for my Crohn’s disease….i have had hair loss…and thinning…which medicine was the culprit? Imuran states that hair loss is a definite side effect…pentasa says that less then 1% experience alopecia….but also i have experienced acne and that is a result of the pentasa as well….so please help me figure this out…thank you
My dog has a skin problem on her back just before her tail and now spreading down the tail, and looks to be forming on the insides of the legs too. The skin is red and brown, some scabs, and some puffy/raised sores. The hair is thinning in these areas and where it has grown back it is short and coarse. It is very itchy and she bites at it and rolls on her back. This happened around the same time last year then went away. But its way worse this time and shes going to the vet, just wondering what disease or parasite this is?
also, does the US have the most documented cases of thyroid disease? i know ppl around the world, and i don’t really see the hair thinning like i do here. maybe it’s all the medications. thanks
are there any other diseases that invovle issues with the lungs and hair loss at the same time? other then lung cancer
I’ve always had a small amount of hair loss. I’ve had dozens of tests since I was a child but no definitive answer. I’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid disease for the last ten years and now my hair loss is worse even with thyroid supplements. Now my daughter, who is almost ten, is also experiencing some hair loss. Her hair is thick and long, though. Mine used to be but has now thinned to where I hate it and no hair cut looks good. Any comments, ideas, similar stories?
I was diagnosed with Graves disease early this year and underwent the radiation treatment for the disease. Now that they are adjusting my medicine I am finding that my hair is falling out a lot. They say that there are certain shampoos out there that help. Does anyone have any advice to prevent the hairloss?
it a hair loss disease or is there no cure
my hair has spots which are becoming bald.I don’t know whether it is from menopause,or maybe, leaving hair colors and hair lightners in my hair too long.I also have liver disease and am wondering if that too could cause my hair loss.
I have had these symptoms for over a month and the Dr’s are giving me the run-around. I have already done a CAT Scan and they are waiting for the results. I have an Upper/Lower GI appointment next week. I only have slight stomach cramping accompanied with the diarrhea. It’s now yellow and has a lot of mucous. Sorry TMI. Does this sound like it could be Crohn’s Disease? I have a strong hunch thatt’s what it is. The Dr. prescribed me Flagyl, until the results come back. Will the CAT Scan show that I have this disease? Thanks!
I have heard of people having Crohn’s and being prescribed Flagyl..
My ferret is a 6-year-old neutered male. A couple of weeks ago he started losing a lot of hair. I know that it is often a sign of adrenal disease, but he is not losing any hair at the base of his tail. Rather, it started in the middle of his back. He has a bald patch there, the hair is thinning on his belly and now he is starting to lose hair on his neck as well. I haven’t noticed any unusual biting or scratching and his skin looks okay. Any thoughts on what the cause of this could be? He is eating well and acting okay. I don’t want to take him to the vet unless I absolutely have to because I know it will cost hundreds of dollars and I just can’t afford it.
I am a salesman and an actor, and I have a large scar on my head that is now exposed bc of the hair loss.

what do you think is the best brand of thyroid medication–no ‘health/herb’ treatments please. My case is too severe for that.
I was just kind of wondering, I know that its the Chemo therapy that causes the hair loss and not the actual surgery but I was just wondering whether that ever happens with other types of illnesses too???
I learned I had Graves Disease last July 2009. My disease is coming under control, however with some side effects. I have gained 30 lbs since September, and I am losing alot of hair from the top of my head. I can actually see my scalp and it is freaking me out. Any suggestions?
I’m thinking about adopting a 4 month old pound puppy, but the pound wanted to let me know the dog has hair loss. They couldn’t find any cause for it (ie mites, disease) but wanted to make sure we were okay with it. They said we probably would need to follow up with the vet about it. The dog is an underweight stray mixed breed (not quite emaciated) and around 4 to 5 months old. Hair loss is even throughout the dogs body, mainly just thinning, with no patches. What could be causing this? Could it be a result of malnutition?
In the last 8 months I started losing my hair very rapidly, and have developed bald spot. I have no idea why, and it’s making me very depressed. I have read that it’s a good idea to go to a doctor if you are experiencing rapid hair loss because it might be a sign of a disease or infection. I’m just wondering what kinds of tests doctors do to determine the cause of hair loss and how they tie those results back to any specific disease??
