Does alopecia areata cause a tingling kind of painful feeling associated with bald patches?
I have a blad patch on the back of my head. It never bothered me until my hairdresser pointed it out one day. It tingles from time to time and has a little red in the bald area but no scaling. I have an app. at the dermatologist next week but i want to know what to expect.

Sometimes it does cause a little pain. You can read more in http://www.alopeciaareata-treatment.com. My bro found a treatment when he had it in http://www.alopecia-areata-cure.com and managed to recover. You might want to try. Good luck.
There is no cure for alopecia. There are TREATMENTS which only mask the symptoms but will not cure the condition. Also, the treatments are so unreliable that there is no ONE specific treatment either. It is so unpredictable. The dermatologist will most likely look at your bald spot and may even try to pull on a few hairs to see how easily they come out. They may draw blood just to make sure it is not a thyroid problem. They usually like to rule out more serious conditions first. Then when they can find nothing else wrong, you will most likely get a diagnosis of alopecia areata. For real information on alopecia, go to http://www.naaf.org It’s the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. They have all the up-to-date information and ways to help coping with the emotional aspects as well.
