I have heard of and tried many different holistic healing methods,as well as traditional (from the Dr.) medicines, but none have ever worked for me. For many, alopecia will correct itself, never to appear again. For others, it becomes part of your life and you learn to accept it. There is no cure, but treatments are successful for many people.
A strong support system of family and friends will be the best thing you can give her. It is very easy for a child with alopecia to become withdrawn and have issues with self-esteem. Do your best to show her your love and to show her the value of her own strength and worth as she grows up. Let her know she is always accepted no matter how she looks. If the alopecia stays with her into her school-age years, she will need your support more than ever. It gets easier after that…
Please (if you haven’t already) check out the National Alopeciat Areata Foundation (www.naaf.org). They have a great support system, and lots of information, and ways to become involved with their organization, if you’re interested.
Give your niece a hug for me.
talk to the pediatrician and her dermatologist. get some counseling because your attitude will determine how well the child treats her disease.
