My 19 yr old son’s hair is thinning. My father was bald. Are there new remedies for male pattern baldness?
I know that male pattern baldness comes from a gene passed from the mother’s father. My father was bald. My son wants to know if there is anything he can do while he still has a full head of hair, rather than waiting until he is bald. Are there any new drugs or homeopathic remedies that help to slow or stop the hair thinning caused by male pattern baldness?

Nope. Go to a hair restoration surgeon. Rogaine only works as long as you use it. As soon as you skip, it all falls out.
no there aren’t any there is a hair growth surgery
Aged 45yo, I’ve gone through this. I found that pretty much every permanent solution….involved permanent treatment. Taking pills, using creams, etc.
So I waited & I waited. When I turned 40yo, I had the big bald patch, receding hairline, thinning & greying – I shaved it all off. Now I saved on haircuts.
I used to get told "you have beautiful fine hair". Now I still do – but it’s about 1mm long.
if he had the baldness genes no thing will stop this
he can user rogaine or propecia. that is all that is available at this time
The BEST way to deal with this is to NOT consider it a problem! I was basically bald by the time I was his age.
I saw my grandpa, my uncles, my older brother, and I KNEW what the fate of my hair was going to be from a VERY young age. I NEVER ONCE considered it a ‘problem’.
Of course, a 19 year old whose MOTHER is trying to ‘fix’ this just may be self-conscious! I hope that you are asking these questions without his knowledge, because he will always remember that his mom liked his looks a lot better when he had hair. That is the LAST thing he needs! Poor Kid.
My ex husband went through the same thing at a young young age, he started balding at 15. He tried the rogaine and it worked, but as soon as he stopped using it, his hair fell back out. I would consult his doctor or maybe a dermatologist. My ex used to shave his head to hide it. But you could still tell. But I would seriously go to the doctor and ask them if there is anything else. Maybe also start taking vitamins that are for hair, skin and nails in the mean time.
I have once my cousin had bald head since they were early 20. And he still bald as this moment. He been wearing a hat everyday now.
It’s usually from hte maternal side, but it could be from many generations back…
the cure? shave the head…frankly it’s kind of hot
