has anyone noticed your hair thinning after drinking a lot of alcohol on a regular basis. my hair used to be really thick and i think it may be from drinking all of the time. no genetic history of hair thinning or female pattern baldness, etc. thyroid is fine. not on medications.

thanks for any help.

I noticed my hair started to get really thin 3 years ago.

For a fact I KNOW i do not have any type of disease or some sort
of male/female pattern baldness because most of my family
members hair are perfectly fine and thick/semi thick

So i was wondering what types of proteins, iron, fiber
to eat to regain healthy thick hair? and how long would it
take to see results with what you eat?

thanks (:

I’m really curious as to why women wear those braids for months at a time. Don’t ya think it’s causing you female pattern baldness. Why don’t you want to comb your hair.

I have had thin hair since I was 17, when I had a bout with anorexia. I am 20 now. The thinning looks like female pattern baldness, and I am a male! Nobody in my family lost their hair this early in life. NONE of them.

I haven’t shampooed or conditioned my hair in four and 1/2 weeks, as part of an experiment to see if the shampoos were too harsh, and if they were causing hair loss. Since then, my skin problems on my back and forehead have disappeared completely, and my hair has been very shiny and soft. It doesn’t smell, either. But I still cannot get any increased growth on the top. What should I do?

I want to bleech my hair blonde from a very dark brown natural color but I have female pattern baldness…what will happen if I do? Will it make my balding happen faster? damage the hair folicles?

I have read that Norplant, the surgical implant contraceptive has side effects such as weightgain, dizziness, headaches, and decreased bone density.

1. Does it also cause female pattern baldness?

2. How much weight will a woman gain?

3. Will it keep increasing? And by how much?

4. And also does the increase reach a plateau after a certain
amount?

5. Can anything be done to curb the weight gain while on this contraceptive?

6. What and how much can be done to curb the loss in bone density? Is taking a glass of Anlene milk a day sufficient?

7. Will you still have your period at this time?

i have read articles on the net that say parachute therapie is great to stop hair fall.
does it help in promoting hair growth as welll? if so when can i expect the hair to start regrowing.
will it also promote hair growth for female pattern baldness and male pattern baldness?

Over the past year I’ve noticed the middle of my hairline getting a lot thinner. At the moment, there’s a square inch patch in the middle of my part (centre part) where I can see straight through to the scalp. Now, I know it’s not MPB (obviously…) and even if it was female pattern baldness, I’d think I’d be a bit young and I don’t have the genes for it anyway. Even when I’m forced to wear a side part now, there’s still noticable scalp showing through and it has quite the ‘comb-over’ look.

Anyway… My point is, I was wondering if anyone could suggest what might be causing it, and even how to reverse it. I saw a doctor, got a blood test… everything came back (frustratingly) fine. And I apparently don’t have a fungus or anything. Wasn’t much help. If I only had a fungus or something, I could fix it. Oh, how I long for fungus.

However, I did have an incident in the past year where I suddenly stopped taking my daily dosage of 20mg lexapro (antidepressants), which was directly against doctor’s orders and I would strongly warn against someone else doing the same. Could this sudden withdrawal from this medication have caused hair loss? I’ve also put myself under a lot of stress lately as I’ve recently moved out of home, started university in a different city to my friends and family and broken up with my long-term boyfriend. I was also malnourished for a period of a few months, about three months ago, due to the fact I was unintelligently starving myself due to poor body image.

Short of having perhaps answering my own question… Could anyone suggest new or affirm these causes? Personal anecdotes are also always reassuring.

I am 22 female, and imy hair is thinning to the point where you can see right through the roots, right to the scalp.
I have noticed it when i was 17, but it was nothing really that noticable. I thought it was because i dyed my hair alot and i’ve always had fine hair to begin with.

When i was 19 I got pregnant, and within 6-8 months after my child was born, It got out of control. I had to change my hair color of bright red and go to a salon to have it professionally done blonde, wich the color looks awful on my skin tone..But it’s the only color that will hide the thinning hair. My hair dresser said that my actual hair is very healthy and my scalp shows no signs of damage (But he isn’t a doctor )…But it’s starting to show even with the blonde hair.

The thinning is in my crown area, and it’s spreading to the back of my head slowly. My hairline is fully in tact,
My hair isn’t falling out at all, it’s just slowly thinning. I dont have any kinda excesive shedding at all. It’s just slowly thinning out, and I dont know why?

Sometimes i’ve noticed a horrible itching sensation where the thinning is.

I’m terrified, i’m only 22 years old, and having to wear a wig. I dont have money to see a doctor, or i would.

I know it could be Female Pattern baldness (It does run in my family) But the itchyness plus i’m so young! Also It all happend after I had my child, Makes me think it’s something more then that. And can this be cured? Can I get my hair back?
I’m desperate!!!! D:

I am scared to try Womans Rogain becasue i’ve heard horror stories that it can make your hair loss worse.

My mom is waiting on settlement money for something and when she gets it she said she would take me to a doctor or help me get a hair transplant. Would that really work?

Thank you for your opinions and help. It’s really devestating.
Im just so miserably depressed over this. I used to love to color and style my hair, it was my pride and joy. It was the only thing i really liked about myspace. I’m so sad, All i can do is where it back in a headband and keep it such a light shade of blonde so it’s not as noticable, but slowly…That wont even work. I dont know what to do, or where to turn. It makes me sick to my stomach. Going out with friends or doing anything like going out to dinner feels more like a burden then anything, because I dont want anybody to see me. I know i sound vain and selfish…but It just sickens me to my core. I just have to hope and pray that I can eventually get the money together to see a doctor and this can be fixed somehow. Loosing your hair is honestly one of the most emotionally devestating thing, one can experience.

Thank you for letting me rant, I just need to get it out of my system.
*My self* (sorry typo)
Thank you all so much for your help. I was reading up on PCOS (Polycistic Ovarian Syndrom)

I have every single symptom, and if i do have this, I can get on meds and it will correct my hairloss and many other problems along with it.

I appreciate each and every one of your answers and opinions. Thank you :)

My mom has been losing hair, and her hair is bleached. She got it done at the best salon in our town and did not turn out fried, the doctor said she was going through female pattern baldness. He told her to use topical minoxidil, because he thought it would work better on her hair. But is it even safe to use on bleached hair?

I have thin, black with a few grey, shoulder length hair cut in layers. I suffer from female pattern baldness around my middle parting. I have an oval face. I am 49 yrs. old, asian. I would like a hair style that is easy to manage and disguises (or helps) my problem of thin hair at the top. I am no good at using styling equipment.

How can I tell if I have one?
I’m a 21 year old female, scared I may be going bald, though female pattern baldness doesn’t run in my family at all!

I’m just wondering the difference between a normal hairline and a receding one. I’m 21, female, and have no female pattern baldness in my family, and am paranoid about my hair. My hairline seems to dip backwards in the top corners of my hairline, and other than that it seems normal. Do you think its receding?
As far as I know, my hairline has always looked like this, but I sure didn’t look at it all the time! Its just recently I’ve started to worry about it.

What are or is (if any) the best way to stop or reverse female pattern baldness??? Any products that should work?? Please help.

i just wanna know approx how much does hair transplant cost? does it make a difference? im a female with female pattern baldness. i am using rogaine but it doesnt do nething.. will hair transplant look good?

I have had female pattern baldness (which after testing was not due to thyroids, blood problems, etc) since I was in my teens, and it runs in my family. However, during both of my pregnancies, my hair filled back in to an acceptable level (and of course, it fell out again a few months after each birth). What hormone caused the hair to begin growing again, and is there a way to take it (like the birth control pill) to combat female hair loss?

Hi there,

I’m wondering, has anyone had any success using Nizoral for combatting either male or female pattern baldness, or thinning hair? Has anyone experienced thicker or healthier-looking hair after using Nizoral?

Thanks!

Okay, i’ve been doing some research on the topic of MPB and possible future cures, and from what I understand, MPB starts when Testosterone is converted into DHT. And it is heavily believed that hair loss is genetically influenced (meaning that it can be passed down to you from either sides of the family). BUT, what if DHT is the only thing genetic? Think about it…Why is it that women rarely suffer from hair loss or Female Pattern Baldness (I’m not saying all women, but a lot.)? And if a woman is suffering from hair loss, it’s mainly because her Testosterone level is high…Anyways, to make a long story short, the female hormone is estrogen = Hair growth… In order for men to grow their hair back, they would need to block their DHT levels of converted Testosterone and influence them with Estrogen… I mean think about it, the only way it has been said that a man would be able to grow his hair back is castrate himself (which is totally not worth it…lol) But do ya’ll understand where I’m coming from? What do ya’ll think?

Anybody here have female pattern baldness? What have you noticed about your hair loss? If I have dark brown hair and I bleech and tone my hair white blonde, will my hair fall out a lot? What will happen?

I noticed that at the crown of my head my hair seemed a tiny tiny bit thin, and when I slick back my hair, two areas on the either side of my upper head don’t have any hair on them! Is that normal, or am I going bald? Female pattern baldness does NOT run in my family, my hormones are fine (in fact I’m pregnant) and I’m only 21! Please Help!

What natural remedies work to reverse and prevent baldness? My doctor says I have the early symptoms of a classic case of female pattern baldness. What do you think I should do?

I would greatly appreciate a second of your time to answer my question. I am a 34-year old woman, and have had 3 babies since 2002. I am a healthy person – the only medication I take is Levoxyl for hypothyroidism (my levels are perfect and checked often). I have had thick, healthy brown hair my whole life. In the last 2 years or so, I have noticed a thinning of my hair on top and when I pull a piece of hair out, the "bulb" root is still attached. I have been told that this is female pattern baldness. Also – my scalp is sometimes sensitive and/or itchy in the area of hair loss. Neither of my parents have experienced hair loss – and I do not understand why this is happening. Any insight you have is MUCH appreciated. This problem is NOT getting any better and is really bothering me!!!

Thank you!

I have thinning hair (female pattern baldness) around the crown area. I am 35 years old and have been dealing with this condition for some time, but it is very depressing to see my hair gradually thin over the years.

I remember that several years ago, a doctor told me that I had/have Poly Ovarian Cystic Syndrome, and I found out that hair loss is a symptom of POCS.

Is it possible that my hair loss will stop, if I get the POCS treated? Is it possible that my hair will grow back?

I tried monoxidil for women, but the hair falls out if I stop using it.

HELP!

Want to bleech my air blonde from a dark brown but I have female pattern baldness…what will happen if I do?
I want to bleech my air blonde from a very dark brown natural color but I have female pattern baldness…what will happen if I do? Will it make my balding happen faster? damage the hair folicles? Is there something else I can use other than traditional hair color/bleech to lighten my very dark brown hair?
