Hes had weight loss,appetite loss,he only drinks water and doesnt eat anything ,he throws up hair balls and has a lot of hair loss.Does anyone have a clue of what the name of the disease he might have is

I am 18 years old and the back of my top/back of my head (hairline area) is a little irritated.

Hair loss runs in my family, so I just want to know when to start doing something about it.

My dad said that he started experiencing the same irritation as I am now when he first started to lose hair, so that is why I am concerned.

Would that irritation be a symptom? What are some other symptoms?

Hi all, my doctor diagnosed me with male-pattern baldness. However, I’ve been on Propecia for almost 2 months and the hair loss has only increased. Its so bad that when i run my fingers through my hair, I have hair with roots between my fingers. Is this normal for male-pattern baldness or is my doctor wrong in his diagnosis. Furthermore, I got my thyroid tested and the results are within the range, with a TSH of 3.6.

Can someone help me out?

Its the salon service thats done in 3 treatments thats supposed to help against hair loss to revitalize hair follicles and increase cellular turnover, and unglog DHT and sebum buildup. Has anybody tried it? Cosmetologists, what do u say about it?

BTW i am NOT asking about the Nioxin 3 part shampoo(cleanser) conditioner (scalp therapy) and scalp treatment. This is the Renew in salon treatment. I already know the 3 part system. I wanna know about the salon treatment thats done in 3 treatments, every 4 weeks.

I have had thin hair since I was 17, when I had a bout with anorexia. I am 20 now. The thinning looks like female pattern baldness, and I am a male! Nobody in my family lost their hair this early in life. NONE of them.

I haven’t shampooed or conditioned my hair in four and 1/2 weeks, as part of an experiment to see if the shampoos were too harsh, and if they were causing hair loss. Since then, my skin problems on my back and forehead have disappeared completely, and my hair has been very shiny and soft. It doesn’t smell, either. But I still cannot get any increased growth on the top. What should I do?

I was taking Imuran but i stopped it…i am still taking Pentasa for my Crohn’s disease….i have had hair loss…and thinning…which medicine was the culprit? Imuran states that hair loss is a definite side effect…pentasa says that less then 1% experience alopecia….but also i have experienced acne and that is a result of the pentasa as well….so please help me figure this out…thank you

Taking one or two a day, is a common side effect hair loss? I’ve heard it can be caused by lack of nutrition and sleep, which are side effects of Adderall. So, would hair loss be a side effect of a side effect? Or what?

I’ve always had a small amount of hair loss. I’ve had dozens of tests since I was a child but no definitive answer. I’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid disease for the last ten years and now my hair loss is worse even with thyroid supplements. Now my daughter, who is almost ten, is also experiencing some hair loss. Her hair is thick and long, though. Mine used to be but has now thinned to where I hate it and no hair cut looks good. Any comments, ideas, similar stories?

Over the past year I’ve noticed the middle of my hairline getting a lot thinner. At the moment, there’s a square inch patch in the middle of my part (centre part) where I can see straight through to the scalp. Now, I know it’s not MPB (obviously…) and even if it was female pattern baldness, I’d think I’d be a bit young and I don’t have the genes for it anyway. Even when I’m forced to wear a side part now, there’s still noticable scalp showing through and it has quite the ‘comb-over’ look.

Anyway… My point is, I was wondering if anyone could suggest what might be causing it, and even how to reverse it. I saw a doctor, got a blood test… everything came back (frustratingly) fine. And I apparently don’t have a fungus or anything. Wasn’t much help. If I only had a fungus or something, I could fix it. Oh, how I long for fungus.

However, I did have an incident in the past year where I suddenly stopped taking my daily dosage of 20mg lexapro (antidepressants), which was directly against doctor’s orders and I would strongly warn against someone else doing the same. Could this sudden withdrawal from this medication have caused hair loss? I’ve also put myself under a lot of stress lately as I’ve recently moved out of home, started university in a different city to my friends and family and broken up with my long-term boyfriend. I was also malnourished for a period of a few months, about three months ago, due to the fact I was unintelligently starving myself due to poor body image.

Ok, so I have a friend with this. For those that don’t know what it is, it’s hair loss. He’s had it since he’s younger but he just shaves his head now and no on really knows he has it or less he tells them. Because of this he also doesn’t really have body hair. I told him some girls like when guys have no body hair. Anyways, considering I already have a boyfriend, I’m just curious are there other girls out there that would date a guy with alopecia?

The first time I used the shampoo and conditioner, I didn’t really notice too much of a difference in hair loss compared to other shampoos and conditioners (I know my hair is supposed to fall out some.) But the second time, I noticed a lot more of my hair was falling out! It kind of freaked me out, and to make sure it wasn’t something else, I washed the next day with my moms shampoo and conditioner, and it was normal. I am 22 female, and imy hair is thinning to the point where you can see right through the roots, right to the scalp.
I have noticed it when i was 17, but it was nothing really that noticable. I thought it was because i dyed my hair alot and i’ve always had fine hair to begin with.

When i was 19 I got pregnant, and within 6-8 months after my child was born, It got out of control. I had to change my hair color of bright red and go to a salon to have it professionally done blonde, wich the color looks awful on my skin tone..But it’s the only color that will hide the thinning hair. My hair dresser said that my actual hair is very healthy and my scalp shows no signs of damage (But he isn’t a doctor )…But it’s starting to show even with the blonde hair.

Im just so miserably depressed over this. I used to love to color and style my hair, it was my pride and joy. It was the only thing i really liked about myspace. I’m so sad, All i can do is where it back in a headband and keep it such a light shade of blonde so it’s not as noticable, but slowly…That wont even work. I dont know what to do, or where to turn. It makes me sick to my stomach. Going out with friends or doing anything like going out to dinner feels more like a burden then anything, because I dont want anybody to see me. I know i sound vain and selfish…but It just sickens me to my core. I just have to hope and pray that I can eventually get the money together to see a doctor and this can be fixed somehow. Loosing your hair is honestly one of the most emotionally devestating thing, one can experience.

my neighbor has a 3 year old mastiff. i saw her limping today so i checked her out. after looking her over i think this may be hip dysplasia. she has a little hair loss on her back about an inch from her tail. is this common?

Well, I got my hair straightened and I think my scalp didn’t like the treatment at all so after the treatment, I got some burns on my scalp and A LOT of my hair fell off. I’m not bald or anything but some parts of my scalp don’t really have much hair anymore. And my scalp has some bumps on it too—maybe because of the slight burns I got from the hair treatment. My sister 27 yrs old has been experiencing thinning of hair and hair loss since 3 yrs. (possibly triggered off by stress and dieting).Her test results of hormones ,blood , sugar etc r normal . I am 13 years old a have cholesterol and my hair is very thin and i kinda have hair loss. I went to my hair doctor and what they did is they took a peice of my scalp like skin of my head and they took it to the lab to see what was happening. My doctor said i have REALY low iron and that i have ALOPECIA AREATA. I realy dont want to loose my hair and get more balder than What i already am. Well he told me to useWomen’s Rogaine(haiur regrowth treatment) witch i could buy at any drug store, and he prescribed me CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE TOPICAL SOLUTION USP, 0.05%mL. And so the doctor told me to use it at the same time twice daily and what happened was i was getting realy bad hedaches so i stoped using it. And so i dont know what else to do cause i realy dont want to suffer anymore.
