i was diagnosed with telogen effluvium and mild alopecia areata. I am a male, 17 years old

I am losing hair everywhere, the back of my head, the sides, the top, and the hairline too.

Does telogen effluvium also affect the hairline, the right side of my hairline has recedded back maybe 1-2cm in a couple of months, and i have lost a lot of hair on the back of my head, the sides, and the top, there’s no pattern :/

thanks

My mom has been losing hair, and her hair is bleached. She got it done at the best salon in our town and did not turn out fried, the doctor said she was going through female pattern baldness. He told her to use topical minoxidil, because he thought it would work better on her hair. But is it even safe to use on bleached hair?

Hi, I am 27 years old male and I am losing hair since past 5 years, my hair are now thin from the forehead of my scalp to the centre of the head. I just want to know if my hair loss is Alopecia Areata? is there anyway you can tell my hair loss is Alopecia Areata? if its not how how do I know if its genetic? we do have baldness history from my mother side, like my uncle was bald? Please help. THanks

I have a 5month old bichon frise and in the last 2weeks her hair has been falling out rapidly. we took her to the vets and she said it could be flees so we treated her for flees but she is still losing hair could it be her diet when she went to the groomers they said it could be her diet shes been on the same food all her life but could that cause problems now? Would changing her food be a good idea? shes on pedigree puppy chicken & rice dry food.

He is a very picky eater, but the vet says only feed "Dog Food".
besides losing hair he’s itchy, irritable, and lathargic.

I suffered from Alopecia Areata, a hair loss disease, as a child. I’m 15 now and it’s been about 10 years since I had this. Everyone thought I grew out of it because my hair is long and thick now. Well lately I’ve been losing hair in the shower and when I brush my hair. This morning I lost a chunk of hair and now have a bald spot that took me an hour to cover.
My question is, can Alopecia Areata come back?

Hello!

Just a quick summary of myself. I’m 20 years old, 6′ 1" 170 pounds. I’m very fit for my age and height, and I exercise daily and always eat a healthy diet. My family has never had a history of MPB, and none of my siblings or cousins my age show any signs of balding.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in January 2008. I was sick before that for about 6 months, before realizing that I was literally withering away, and it wasn’t going to get better on it’s own. After I was diagnosed, I was given a 60mg a day dose of Prednisone and a 2400mg a day dose of Asacol. The Asacol stayed the same for the next 9 months, and the Prednisone tapered off gradually to 5mg a day by 9 months. In December 2008, I completely stopped taking both my Prednisone and Asacol, and was relieved to hear that my Crohn’s was in remission. During the 9 month period, I suffered the usual symptoms of Prednisone (Moon face, weight gain, fatigue, joint pain, etc.) I was also losing hair a little at a time.

About a month after stopping the regiment, around January 2009, I started losing my hair in the front. For the first few months, it was coming out rather quickly and in large amounts. It was also thinning very badly. It started getting progressively better over the next 6 months, but it didn’t stop completely. By December 2009, I have lost a decent amount of hair on the front of my scalp, and it’s a little discouraging for my self image. Whenever I lose hair, it’s usually shorter follicles, an inch in length, compared to my 2-3 inch hair everywhere else. Also, the follicles have a white head on the end sometimes, which I am told is the root. Uh oh? I have read a ton of testimonials online about people with the same exact problem as me, except that they had their hair growing back within 3-5 months of being off of Prednisone. I’ve been off for over a year, and am starting to barely notice positive results, if there are even any positive results. I’m usually too optimistic about things!

After deciding that I wanted my hair back, and I need to combat this every way possible, I started to do the following;
-Taking biotin supplement pills
-Eating extremely healthy and drinking plenty of water
-Washing my hair once a week with some natural shampoo I found at a health store
-Messaging oils in to my scalp once a week, and messaging my scalp a few times a day

I guess my question is;

Will my hair ever grow back, to be the same thick, healthy hair it was before the Prednisone? Or is there something that I’m missing?

1. I’m losing toooooooo much hair everyday, I eat lots of fruet and still losing hair. do you think I should take some vitamins? what vitamins exactly?
2. my hair is thin (become thin). what hair color do you think would make it look thicker, a dark color or a light one?
my natural hair color is medium brown. I was going to dye it dark brown or black.
thanks in advance!!

I have curly hair not to curly but cork screw curly once it gets a bout 2 1/2 or 3 inches. My hair for some reason grows slower on the center of my head and the alittle towards the back. The sides grow way faster the the top. My hair line has not been receading and I am not losing hair when I take a shower just alittle once or twice a week. I don’t have hair on my pillow or anything and my hair does seem strong. I don’t know if it is an optical illusion or any thing but my hair does seem to be getting thin from the center and and back. I don’t have relatives or any one in my family with male pattern baldness. If I am going through male pattern baldness what can I do to prevent it or a product I can use to slow it down or stop it. By the way I am a healthy 22 year old male and very worried about losing my hair plus I had multiple dreams of losing my hair but I am the type to worry about things like that. Some one any one please help me!!!
