In January I appeared to have a perfectly healthy head of hair, the same as I have always had, except I always had a hairline that went in farther at the corners of the forehead than most people my age.

In February I noticed that a lot more hair was falling out than usual when I washed my hair, and my hair was becoming thinner. I would find a tub with a bunch of my hairs after a shower, and a counter with a bunch of hairs when I blow dried.

I just thought this could be from stress at school and lack of sleep at the time.

This continued for a good month, with my hair becoming thinner.

At the end of this thinning thing I noticed my hair line receding at the front and sides of the forehead and my hair was noticeably thinner at the front.

Right now my hair is not falling out any more, but still seems thinner than it once was. My hairline at the front still appears to be receded, I do not know if it is getting worse, or I am making myself think it is. But there is definitely a change from before.

I’ve been to my family doctor and a dermatologist and neither seemed concerned or provided any answers, they told me to come back in a few years.

Every male on both sides of the family has male pattern baldness. My dad always told me I’ll have hair like his one day, now I’m getting worried I really will. My mom always told me the gene will probably skip me.

I was reading, and DHT, which causes the hair loss is also responsible for facial hair growth and chest hair. I have only facial hair on my lip, and no chest hair. Can it cause hair loss but not the other hair growth?

I’ve heard the gene for hair loss comes from your mother, all her male relatives have hair loss. But she has a perfectly healthy thick head of hair. Same with every female on both sides of my family.

my hair dye is at my mom’s house and if you haven’t figured out, i’m at my dad’s. but i really want to dye my bangs tonight before going to the mall tomorrow. i read that food coloring is really bad for your hair so i need an alternative. is there one??

My grandma got it but only one of her four children got it. [my mom] So I’m a little worried that I’ll receive it…. My sister used to have a full head of hair, but now it’s starting to thin out. It could be stress from college, but I’m still very worried. So, what are the chances of me getting it? How can I prevent it since I’m only 15? I really don’t want to lose my hair… I’m a girl by the way.

Also, what are the chances of me going bald? My mom’s father has a full head of hair as well as all of my mother’s brothers.

My mom has been losing hair, and her hair is bleached. She got it done at the best salon in our town and did not turn out fried, the doctor said she was going through female pattern baldness. He told her to use topical minoxidil, because he thought it would work better on her hair. But is it even safe to use on bleached hair?

My younger brother has really long hair and my mom insist that he cut it, saying that hair takes up a lot of nutrition and robs the brain of important nutrition it needs. That sounds ridiculous to me is it true?

My dad had male patter baldness in his 20’s will it skip me ? will i go bald the same exact way and time he did or later like in my 40’s ? or will i get the bald gene from my mom because i heard the mothers gene is dominant

I am going to a Halloween party tonight and my costume is a Leprechaun. I want to temporarily dye my hair green, and my mom said food coloring works. I am still nervous about it coming out of my hair as my mom has never tried it. Does anyone know anything about this?
My mom doesn’t want to buy a hair dye, unfortunately. But after hearing all the mixed comments, I’m going to try to convince her!

I am not stupid, so don’t post rude comments! I realize it says FOOD coloring, but clear nail poslish is meant for fingernails, yet it can be used for fixing rips in nylons. Things have multiple uses.
Unfortunately, I go to a charter school that is insanely strict, so I can NOT go to school with green hair!

Me and my cousin have a scene/emo haircut. But we iron/straighten our hair everyday for a while, but when my mom sometimes helps me straighten my hair, she pulls out like 2 strands of hair and thats it (she never straightens my hair, only sometimes) But can ironing hair cause alopecia? And if not, what does? I don’t want to lose my hair. :(

Hi,
I’m 13 and I have alopecia (a hairloss disease) I am mostly bald. I think I’d really like to have a friend who lives close bye me in Minneasota but I don’t know how. I want to go to one of those support groups but my Mom doesn’t have time. Any ideas where I can find a friend with alopecia like me?

My step-dad and I are really close and he was recently diagnosed with Alopecia areata. I would love to get one of those rubber awareness bracelets for it if anyone knows where I can get some, and so would my mom. Help anyone?

well my mom is worried dying my hair will ruin it so, i thought maybe food coloring would work but, Is dyeing your hair with food coloring damaging?

My mom has alopecia areata and is currently undergoing treatment but I am wondering if certain hair products (shampoos, dyes) are considered to affect hair regrowth?
